10 June 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0312
Page 8-of 11
inspection will be scheduled with EHD personnel.Proposed well construction diagrams are depicted
in Figures 5 and 6. "
Following completion ofthe SVE wells, well elevation and global positioning system(GPS)location
will be surveyed by,a California-licensed surveyor relative to a,City of Stockton elevation
benchmark. Well elevation will be surveyed in a format acceptable for the State GeoTracker
database.
3.3. SVE SYSTEM DESIGN AND.IMPLEMENTATION
A portable high vacuum, oil-ring blower equipped, SVE system with 240Volt, 3-phase generator,
electrical heated catalytic oxidizer(specifications to follow in report)will be placed at the site for
one event consisting of an 8-hour operational period. The blower system will be attached to proposed
shallow SVE well VW-1 which will be used as extraction wells and vacuum, readings will be
obtained from proposed SVE observation wells VW-2 and VW-3 and potentially surrounding ground .
water monitoring wells MW-3 through MW-5 and MW-8 (Figure 2). The test will included a
constant-flow rate, at the maximum.vacuum allowable from the SVE.system. Results from these
tests will be used to establish the effective radius of influence and to determine the optimum
operating level of the extraction system.
3.4 SVE PILOT TESTING
During the shallow SVE Test, the inlet ofthe system will be connected to the proposed shallow SVE
well VW-1 to evaluate the contaminant concentrations and SVE influence on the shallow sediments..
Air-tight well caps fitted with.attached Magnehelic vacuum gauges will be attached to the remaining
proposed SVE wells.and potential monitoring wells and the induced vacuum will be measured at
these monitoring points.
The air stream from the SVE well will be monitored for the presence of organic vaporusing an OVM
equipped with a PID and flame ionization detector(FID).The vacuum applied to the extraction wells
will cause hydrocarbons in the soil to volatilize and flow through the vacuum pump to the SVE unit..
The extracted hydrocarbon vapor will be destroyed in a catalytic cell as part of a combustion process.
3.4.1. Field Measurements
During the SVE Tests, air flow will be monitored using a Dwyer DS-200 flow sensor.-Flow rates
will initially be measured and recorded in inches of water of differential pressure. The flow rate will
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
