V
Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc . - -
30 August 2011
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0312
Mr. Mike Infurna L(s
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department We
600 East Main Street
Stockton, California 95202
Subject: Site Closure Feasibility
CHEROKEE TRUCK STOP
3535 East Cherokee Road, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Infurna:
At the request of Mr. Ellis Cecchini,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.(AGE)has prepared
this request for site closure feasibility for 3535 Cherokee Road, Stockton, California.
AGE prepared the High Vacuum Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Test Report, dated 10 March
2010; within this report which documented a field scale pilot test to evaluate high vacuum
soil vapor extraction (SVE) feasibility and AGE's recommended active remediation.
However, at the recommendation of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (EHD) letter dated 27 October 2010, an extended high vacuum soil vapor
extraction pilot test will be conducted utilizing the approved technology and monitoring
program.AGE prepared the Five-Day High Vacuum Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Test Report
date 21 March 2011 and again the report included AGE's recommended active
remediation. The mass of SVE hydrocarbons extracted during the first 8-hour SVE pilot
test was calculated to be 40 pounds of gasoline (6 gallons); while hydrocarbon mass
extracted during the longer-duration SVE pilot test was calculated to be 410 pounds of
gasoline (65.63 gallons) and 39.63 lbs of diesel. The mass of hydrocarbons slightly
declined over the hours of a 90 hour, subsequent pilot test.
AGE's report previously recommended preparation of a Remedial Action Work Plan
(RAWP), proposing HVSVE as the remediation technology for vadose zone and deeper
hydrocarbon-impacted soils which directly pose a threat to ground water at the site. An
evaluation of potential corrective action alternatives to mitigate residual low concentration
impact to ground water at the site was also to be included in the RAWP.
837 Shaw Road, Stockton,California 95215
Telephone(209)467-1006 Fax (209)467-11 18
