Cecchuu, Cecchvu, and Govannom Fueling Island
fueling island facility after the underground fuel storage tanks and piping system are
removed The hydrocarbon-impacted soils would be excavated to a depth of
approximately 25 feet, followed by backfilling with compacted engineered fill material
The deeper phase of cleanup would utilize the technology of bioremediation wherein au
is injected into the hydrocarbon unpacted zone between the shallow excavated soil and the
deeper ground water Wall the addition of oxygen, growth of hydrocarbon-utilizing
microbes would occur The microbes will be stimulated to degrade the residual
hydrocarbons into the harmless byproducts of carbon dioxide and water Air source
testing of QIP-1 should be planned when ground water levels are lower to allow
measurements of air flow in the unsaturated screen intervals of the surrounding
monitoring wells The reduction of leachable hydrocarbons will assist in a cleanup of
ground water and a site that is below levels of concern for human health or
environmental risk
5e0 Recommendations
1 ESE recommends continued quarterly monitoring of monitoring wells surrounding
the fueling island facility. The recommended monitoring program is as follows:
0 Quarterly water level measurements in all UST monitoring wells, including
the small water supply well,
0 Continuance of quarterly ground water sampling with analysis for TPH-D and
TPH-G, and BTEX in wells UST-2 through UST-5, and
0 Quarterly reporting of all site activities related to the underground fuel tank
area
GO 2. Perform a soil vapor air-mjection test in STP-1 when ground water levels have
further decreased allowing the use of available unsaturated screen in UST-2
through UST-5 to monitor the effects of air flow m the subsurface
F N69254W\2QM96 RPT 8 Environmental Science do Ehgweering, Inc
