ti
12 February 2002
• AGE-NC Proj ect No 97-0312
Page 14 of 18 Y
4 5 GROUND WATER MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT ,
Development will consist of a combination of bailing to remove the mayor portion of fine-grained
sediment from Inside the wells, surging to flush out or draw in sediment from the filter pack;and
additional balling to finish the removal of sediment Development activities will be continued until
field parameter(pH, electrical conductivity, and temperature)readings of the purged ground water
' have stabilized
' 4 6 GROUNDWATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING
Groundwater sample collection will be performed in accordance with pertinent applicable sampling
protocols, details of which are presented below
4 6 1 Static Water Level Measurements
Before sampling, static water level will be measured in each well using an electric water level
10 Indicator Water level data will be recorded to the nearest 0 01-foot from a reference point marked
on the top of the PVC well casing Before and after each use,the measurement device will be rinsed
with water
r
4 6 2 Well Evacuation r
r
Subsequent to measurement of depth to water and prior to sampling, the well will be purged using
a disposable bailer or a submersible pump to ensure that the sample Is representative of the
r formation, rather than water standing in the well casing The well will be purged until 1)a minimum
of three casing-water volumes of water is removed from the well, and 2)the field-measured ground
water parameters have stabilized However, If a well Is purged dry prior to evacuating three casing
volumes, a ground water sample will be collected following 80 percent recovery of ground water
level within the well or within 2 hours of well evacuati6n `
h
4 6 3 ' Sample Withdrawal -
Water samples will be collected from the monitoring well using a disposable polyethylene bailer
These pre-cleanedlbailers are disposed of after one use and require no decontaminating, thereby
minimizing cross contamination due to sampling devices Samples will be drawn and collected in
• such a manner that agitation and exposure of the groundwater to the atmosphere is minimal 'Sample
ti
Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc
I '
