i <br /> 4 <br /> k <br /> I12 February 2002 <br /> � AGE-NC Project No 97-0312 <br />' - Page 17 of 18 Y <br /> a <br /> 1 s <br /> 4 8 2 Collection and Analysis of Vapor Samples <br /> r <br /> _ A total of four vapor samples will be collected at two-hour intervals from the inlet of the extraction <br /> well to measure concentrations of extracted hydrocarbon vapor The samples will be collected in <br /> Tedlar bags using the organic vapor analyzer as an air pump , <br /> Following sample collection,the samples will be placed in a covered container and transported under , <br /> chain-of-custody to DHS-certified laboratory Each sample will be analyzed within 72 hours for the <br /> following <br /> • TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified <br /> • BTEXJMTBE in accordance with EPA Method 8020, <br /> • Fuel oxygenated compounds including DIPE, ETBE, MTBE, TAME, TBA, methanol and <br /> ethanol by EPA Method 8260 Modified, and <br /> • EDB and 1,2-DCA by EPA Method 8260 Modified <br /> 4 <br /> 49 OZONE SPARGE SYSTEM AND TESTING <br />' The Cnegee Oxidation (C-Sparge) system is an in-situ air stripping process utilizing fine bubbles <br /> of ozone injected into saturated soil to extract and decompose dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon <br />' constituents An ozone generator is utilized to produce gaseous ozone which is injected into the <br /> subsurface via microsparge points The"microbubbles"(approximately 50 micrometers)are forced <br /> out into the surrounding saturated soil and react with the target analytes,'producing carbon dioxide „ <br />' and water ' <br /> The frequency and duration of ozone injection periods can be regulated at the ozone generator <br />' control box Initially, operation of the ozone injection system will be based on the manufacturer's <br /> recommendations Injection rates,,frequency and duration may be adjusted to compensate for site <br /> conditions during the pilot test The ozone sparge feasibility test will be performed for approximately <br />' six months, ground water samples will be collected and analyzed monthly from the existing <br /> ,monitoring vyell network and the proposed cluster well to evaluate the effectiveness of the ozone <br /> sparge system Ground water samples will be analyzed as described in Section 3 6 ` <br /> _ t <br /> 1 <br />' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
