Banta Road, Tracy California
for the purpose of determining if he had installed a new potable well on his property
subsequent to the 1993 Interim Groundwater Record of Decision in which DLA was required to
provided bottled water as compensation for Carbon Tetrachloride presence in his drinking
-. wafter = -for which -DLA was not responsi"b-le. lie-said that he- -ha-d-i`nde-ed--installed a-new-
well in February of 2005.
He claimed, however, that the bottled water vendor informed him that the government had
not been paying for the water and that he, Glenn Robertson, had been paying for the water
ever since.
Greg Korose, URS Corp, found the well information at the county office and noted that the
well is screened below the Corcoran Clay layer (480 - 520 feet) which would put the well
in an uncontaminated zone. (see
attachment)
I then contacted the bottled water vendor to inquire about possible double -billing on the
subject contract and was told that it would not be possible. The POC was Ms. Lilly
Jimenez (1-800-707-4777 ext 5024)
I also inquired to Ms Nina Markel of the DDC Contracting Office as to government payment
of the bottled contract. She assured me that the government was indeed paying for the
water. I have since sent an e-mail to Ms Markel instructing her to pay for the bottled
water until the end of the contract term, at which time the contract would not be renewed.
If Mr. Robertson had paid for water for which the government had also paid, then it would
be his prerogative to seek compensation from the bottled water vendor.
<<PW005 New Well.pdf>>
Maurice Benson
Remedial Project Manager
Defense Distribution Depot San Joaquin
DESJC-PSS
Bldg. 16B Mezzanine
(209) 839-4065 - Com
462-4065 - DSN
1
