Antonia K.J. Vorster 2 8 December 1989
Senior Enginee
effectiveness of the proposed ground water extraction scheme to intercept
contaminated ground water. Sampling existing monitoring wells may be sufficient,
however, if this is proposed it must be demonstrated that the existing wells are
appropriately located and screened to act as performance monitoring wells.
5) One objective of the extraction/injection system performance monitoring program
is to gauge changes to existing contaminant plume migration patterns. Ensotech's
performance monitoring strategy should include the wells (existing and/or new)
that will be sampled to meet this objective.
6) A brief letter report by Ensotech was submitted to this office on 6 December
1989. This report contained analyses of existing hydraulic data, and proposed
that the two westernmost extraction wells (EW3 and EW4) be replaced by EW7 and
EW8. Since this is a change from ERC's proposed locations for the extraction
wells, Ensotech should provide us with the contaminant plume concentration maps
alluded to in their 6 December report (page 2, 'CONTAMINANT PLUMES') with the
ERC and the Ensotech extraction well networks superimposed. Once we review these
maps we will decide if the proposed change is merited.
7) All correspondence regarding the interim ground water system must also be sent
to Mr. Jim Pinasco, Department of Health Services, Sacramento.
