EW009B from Figure 33-1; it is already shown on Figure 3.3-2,which displays Dieldrin
Reported in the Middle Hydrologic Zone Well Samples.
Additionally, the concentration for Well LM028A of 0.074 ug/L should be highlighted in
bold type, as it exceeds the ACL of 0.05 ug/L. Please revise the figure accordingly.
4. Section 3.3.5, Upper Hydrologic Zone, Page 3-8: The first sentence of Section 3.3.5
states that a total of nine wells contained concentrations above the ACL for dieldrin of
0.05 ug/L. Based on the information presented in Figure 3.3-1, there were ten wells (11
well samples) that contained dieldrin concentrations equal to or greater than the ACL of
0.05 ug/L. Please revise the first sentence of Section 3.3.5 to contain this information.
5. Section 3.3.6, Middle Hydrologic Zone, Page 3-8 and Figure 3.3-2,Dieldrin
Reported in Middle Hydrologic Zone Well Samples Third Quarter 2006: Section
3.3.6 states that three samples (LM029B, LM134AB, and EW029B) contained dieldrin
concentrations above the ACL; however, only two of these results (LM029B and
EW028B) are shown on Figure 3.3-2. Please remove the reference to EW029B,which
did not contain reportable concentrations of dieldrin, and replace it with EW028B. Well
LM134AB, which is discussed in Section 3.3.6 Middle Hydrologic Zone, is presented on
Figure 3.3-1, which shows dieldrin reported in the Upper Hydrologic Zone. Please
resolve this discrepancy and modify the text and/or figures for consistency.
The last sentence of Section 3.3.6 states that the results from the 2006 dieldrin natural
attenuation cone penetrometer test(CPT)investigation are shown on Figure 3.3-2. A
review of Figure 3.3-2 indicates that a 0.05 ug/L isopleth has been drawn to represent
approximate dieldrin concentrations based on Hydropunch data collected during this CPT
investigation. However, CPT sample locations and dieldrin concentrations are not
presented on this figure. As a result, it is somewhat misleading to state that the results
from the CPT investigation are presented on Figure 3.3-2. Please consider adding CPT
investigation sample results to Figure 3.3-2, or rephrase the text of section 3.3.6 to
indicate a concentration isopleth, rather than sampling results, has been added to Figure
3.3-2.
6. Section 6.2.1, Page 6=1: The statement"the dieldrin groundwater ACL of 0.005 ug/L
[note - should be 0.05 ug/L] is recognized to be unachievable" is premature. Until an
Amendment to the Record of Decision providing an alternate ACL is signed by all
parties, the existing ACL of 0.05 ug/L for dieldrin will apply. Please qualify the
statement regarding the dieldrin ACL.
2
