APPLICABLE PUBLICATION: The California Administrative Code, Title 23, <br /> Waters, Chapter 3, Water Resources Control Board, Subchapter 16, Under- <br /> ground Tank Regulations, shall form a part of this specification. The <br /> preceding publication may be obtained by the Contractor from the San <br /> Joaquin County Local Health District. <br /> 3-02. REFERENCED PARAGRAPHS: The following paragraphs of the preceding appli- <br /> cable publication shall be used by the Contractor as a ready reference <br /> only. Contractor responsibilities are not limited by the following <br /> - references: <br /> 3-02.1, Removal of tanks, including all residuals - Article 7, Section <br /> 2672 a, b. <br /> 3-02.2 Compliance with the directives by the County inspector, for the <br /> detection of evidence of soil contamination - Article 4, Section <br /> 2648 (V) . <br /> 3-02.3 Compliance for the sampling and testing of contaminated soil - <br /> Article 7, Section 2672 and Article 4, Section 2645. <br /> 3-03. TANK' S PIT PROTECTION FROM RAIN: In addition. to Section 2, Paragraph <br /> 2-03, the Contractor, as directed by the Contracting Officer, shall <br /> provide tarpaulin cover for all open tank's pit. The Contractor is <br /> responsible in determining the weather forecast prior to excavation <br /> work. <br /> 3-o4. SOII.. SA`SFLIXG AND TESTP'G: The Contractor shall employ the aid of Testing <br /> Laboratories in obtaining soil samples and testing for soil chemical con- <br /> tents. Testing of soil samples shall be performed by State of California <br /> certified soil Testing Laboratories. Listir.; of certified Testing Izbo- <br /> ratories maybe obtained by the Contractor from the San Joaquin County Lo- <br /> cal Health District. Ali test results must be forwarded to the Con- <br /> trating Officer immediately upon completion of test. Table - 1, depicts <br /> the number of soil samples to be obtained for testing and the soil chemi- <br /> cal contents to be determined. figure - 1 , depicts where soil samples <br /> are to -e obtained. <br /> 3-05. DIS.CSA_. OF TANKS. A11 tanks except those located at whse 28 and building <br /> 247s:a1'_ 'oecome the property of the Contractor and shall be cut up for <br /> scrap metal. The contractor shall certify in writing that the contractor <br /> i-.-ill not reuse the removed tanks for am, purpose, and that he will not <br /> dispose of said tan'-,s in a manner that would permit their reuse. Tanks <br /> at 'nnse 28 and 'ld^ 24'7 shall be disposea by the Contractor in Class 1 <br /> landfill dum-, ?roof of tanks beirar disposed in Class 1 landfill shall 'be <br /> reeuired from the Contractor and shall be submitted to the Contracting . <br /> Officer. The Contractor shall comply with all Federal, State and Ldcal <br /> re.Zllati0ns required for the disposal of tanks that contained hazardous <br /> waste. <br /> 3-01 <br />
