Land Disposal Specifications <br /> 1. Recycled wastewater used for irrigation shall meet the criteria contained in Title 22,Division <br /> 4, CCR(Section 60301 et seq.). <br /> 2. Public contact with wastewater shall be controlled through use of fences, cautionary signs, <br /> and/or other appropriate means. Perimeter warning signs indicating that recycled water is in <br /> use shall be posted at least every 500 feet along the property boundary and at each access road <br /> entrance to the properties. The contents of these signs shall be as described in Section 60310 <br /> of California Code of Regulations, Title 22. Each sign shall be in English and Spanish <br /> languages. <br /> 3. Recycled water controllers, valves, and similar appurtenances shall be affixed with recycled <br /> water warning signs, and shall be equipped with removable handles or locking mechanisms to <br /> prevent public access or tampering. Quick couplers and sprinkler heads, if used, shall be of a <br /> type, or secured in a manner, that permits operation only by authorized personnel. Hose bibbs <br /> that the public could use shall be eliminated. <br /> 4. Any connection between the recycled water conveyance system and any potable water <br /> conveyance system, groundwater supply well, or surface water supply source for the purpose <br /> of supplementing recycled water shall be equipped with an appropriate backflow prevention <br /> device. <br /> 5. Direct or windblown spray shall be confined to the designated disposal area and prevented <br /> from contacting outdoor eating areas, drinking water facilities,homes, or surface <br /> watercourses. <br /> 6. Spray irrigation with recycled water is prohibited when wind velocities exceed 30 mph. <br /> 7. No irrigation with, or impoundment of, undisinfected secondary recycled water shall take <br /> place within 150 feet of any domestic water supply as required by Title 22 Section 60310(d). <br /> i <br /> 8. Recycled water shall be used in compliance with CCR Title 22, Article 3, "Uses of Recycled <br /> Water." Recycled water shall not be used for irrigation food of crops for human <br /> consumption, nor shall it be used in recreational impoundments. <br /> 9. The perimeter of the land disposal areas shall be graded to control runoff and prevent ponding <br /> along public roads or other public areas. <br /> 10. Storm water runoff from land application areas shall be retained within the designated <br /> effluent recycling areas. <br /> 11. Irrigation with recycled effluent shall not be performed within 24 hours before, during, or <br /> within 24 hours after any precipitation event, nor shall it be performed when the ground is <br /> saturated. <br />
