River Islands at Lathrop 5044.5.001.01 <br /> t Monitoring Wells MW-13 through MW-22 January 13, 2006 <br /> MONITORING WELL LOCATION STUDY Page 6 <br /> Prior to the construction of the levee, Dynamic Compaction was utilized to mitigate potential <br /> liquefaction of the levee. Dynamic Compaction consented to providing large impacts to the <br /> ground surface by repeatedly dropping steel tampers 6 to 20 tons in weight from drop heights <br /> ranging from 40 to 70 feet. The falling weight produced craters approximately 6 feet in diameter <br /> by 6 feet deep, spaced approximately 6 feet apart, within the boundary of the new levee. After <br /> completion of the Dynamic Compaction activities, a dozer re-graded the area filling the voids. <br /> ENGEO field personnel observed the Dynamic Compaction activities for physical evidence <br /> and/or remnants of MW-17; however, none was observed. This is consistent with Kleinfelder's <br /> Record of Water Level Measurements (discussed above) collected in the field between <br /> March 2, 1999, and January 5, 2000, which indicated that prior to March 2, 1999, MW-17 had been <br /> destroyed. <br /> ' Monitoring Well MW-19 <br /> 1 <br /> ' Estimated location <br /> of missing well, <br /> MW-19. <br /> ' No physical evidence and/or remnants of a well were encountered during excavation activities in <br /> the vicinity of Monitoring Well MW-19. According to Kleinfelder's Record of Water Level <br /> Measurements (discussed above), Monitoring Well MW-19 was damaged prior to their sampling <br /> event on June 7, 1999.
