' River Islands at Lathrop 5044.5.001.01
' Monitoring Wells MW-13 through MW-22 January 13, 2006
MONITORING WELL LOCATION STUDY Page 8
CONCLUSIONS
' As discussed above, ENGEO personnel made multiple attempts to uncover physical evidence
and/or remnants of the subject missing wells both by physically canvassing the area as well as by
' performing a limited subsurface exploration in the vicinity of the suspected monitoring well
locations. The results of our efforts indicate that six former monitoring wells (MW-14, MW-16,
' MW-17, MW-19, MW-21 and MW-22) could not be located and are thus presumed destroyed;
therefore, we are not proposing any further action for these wells. It should be noted that the
monitoring wells are located within the River Islands planned development area and thus any
remaining casings will be buried by engineered fill. It should also be noted that the missing
wells are not located under any current or known future land application areas or storage ponds.
For these reasons, significant potential for the former wells to serve as direct conduits for
' reclaimed water to reach deeper groundwater does not appear to exist and thus no further action
is required.
' ENGEO Incorporated plans to repair Monitoring Wells MW-13, MW-15, MW-18 and MW-20
within approximately the next 2 months, depending on site access conditions. We anticipate that
this work will be completed by the end of March, at the latest. These wells will be recovered by
extending the well pipes above the ground surface, clearing out debris and dirt from within the
wells as much as practical, and protecting the wells with locking monuments. The locations of
these wells will be resurveyed by a licensed land surveyor following recovery, establishment of
new top of casings, and installation of the locking monuments. If, at anytime, the
above-mentioned wells are no longer needed, they will be abandoned in accordance with
San Joaquin County's requirements.
' We are pleased to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding the
contents of this letter, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,
' ENGEO INCORPORATED Reviewed by:
' lZac Crawford ncan Hickmott, CEG
zc/ib:locstudy
' Attachment: Appendix, Kleinfelder 2000, Plates A-1A, A-113, A-lC, and A-11)
' cc: I - Cary Keaten, City of Lathrop
I -John Fio, HydroFocus
