' thickness of sand deposits (characterized by boring logs for monitoring wells
MWM-12, -13, -14, -15, -17, -18, and -19). The reduction in sand deposits
' suggests a possible decrease in water transmitting properties in central
Mossdale relative to the northwest and southeast Mossdale areas.
At the MBR WWTP, the site appears to be underlain by a blue-gray silty clay
1 located from 24 to 30 feet below land surface. At one location (MBRMW-1), the
clay appears to be more than 10 feet thick. Above the clay, the borehole logs
' report generally fine-grained deposits characterized as predominantly brown silty
sands, sandy silts, and fine-grained sands. The depth to first encountered water
ranged from 16 to 19 feet below land surface.
2.0 INSTALLED MONITORING WELL NETWORK
' During the period May 16, 2005 through July 1, 2005, 24 Phase 1 monitoring
wells were installed in the Mossdale subarea. Figure 2 is a scaled site map
' showing all previously existing wells, newly installed wells, and other major
physical and man-made features. Table 1 lists the Mossdale subarea wells
plotted in Figure 2 and reports their current status.
1
1
t
t
1
