The
piezometers will be located as shown in the attached Piezometer Plan and summarized as
follows:
Landside of the seepage berm and trench drain 30 feet Below blanket layer
Levee toe and waterside of trench drain 35 feet Below blanket layer
Landside edge of the levee crown 45 Feet Levee Fill and Levee Foundation
*Final screening intervals shall be based on the materials encountered in the borings.
PIEZOMETER WELL CONSTRUCTION
The landside and crown piezometers will be installed by conventional vertical well construction
methods using hollow stem augers, as shown in the attached Typical Piezometer Installation
Detail. At least 48 hours prior to drilling the borings, we will mark the site for an Underground
Service Alert(USA)utilities check.
Wells will be constructed of 2-inch-diameter PVC casing with manufactured screen. The well
screen will be appropriate for the graded granular filter pack material that will be sized according
to the aquifer material grain size distribution. We estimate that a 0.010-slot manufactured screen
and a #2/12 filter pack will be appropriate for this project. At a minimum, the upper 5 feet of
annular space will be filled with bentonite and cement grout sealed to ground surface to
minimize the intrusion of surface water into the well, in general conformance with San Joaquin
580 N.Wilma Avenue,Suite A•Ripon,CA 95366•(209)835-0610•Fax(888)279-2698
www.engeo.com
FILE COP Y
