10 April 1997
AGC-NC Project No. 97-0298
Mr. Harry Weber
Cain Electrical Works
230 North Church Street
Lodi, California.
Subject : Site Status Update
CAIN ELECTRICAL WORKS
230 North Church Street, Lodi, California
Dear Mr. Weber:
In accordance with your request Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has performed an
assessment of the former underground storage tank (UST) requested by the San Joaquin County
Public Health Services-Environmental Health Department(PHS-EHD)and has performed an active
soil gas survey for PCE requested by the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). The
following is a summary of the investigations.
• The active soil gas sampling requested be the DTSC has confirmed that PCE is present
beneath the building on the site and PCE impacted soil extends west and north of the site.
• AGE has presented the results of the soil gas investigation to the DTSC by facsimile and the
DTSC has verbally requested that AGE prepare a report of the findings and further prepare
a Work Plan Addendum detailing the collection and analysis of additional soil gas samples.
• The UST investigation indicated no detectable release of hydrocarbons from former UST and
AGE will prepare a Closure Summary Report for the site.
• Please be reminded that the PHS-EHD will require that the UST excavation be backfilled
with clean fill, prior to receiving closure for the former UST.
