Six locations were sampled for groundwater and five locations were <br /> ' sampled for soil gas at the former Newark Sierra facility located at 800 West Church Street in <br /> Stockton, California (the "Site"). Soil samples were also collected at three of the six locations. <br /> Sample locations are shown on Figure 1. Field procedures as described below were performed <br /> ' in accordance with all applicable San Joaquin County Ordinance Codes and/or Standards and <br /> State and/or Federal Laws and Regulations. The Site is a former paper products facility, <br /> currently unoccupied. The purpose of the investigation described below was to evaluate the <br /> ' presence of chemicals in soil gas, groundwater,and soil in the context of litigation. <br /> FIELD INVESTIGATION <br /> ' Pre-Sampling Activities <br /> ' Prior to sampling, a project Health and Safety Plan was prepared in accordance with California <br /> OSHA requirements. The sample locations were marked on the ground with white paint and <br /> Underground Service Alert (USA) North was notified on 23 January 2011 (ticket number <br /> ' 029014). In addition, Subtronic Corporation of Martinez, California performed a geophysical <br /> survey in the vicinity of each sample location to identify the potential presence of utilities, <br /> pipelines, or other subsurface features.
