We are writing to clarify a few points presented in the County's
letter. Attachment 1 to this letter is a copy of the report that we sent to the County providing
them with results of our work.
1. The samples were not collected with the objective of characterizing the entire site, but
rather to address specific issues within the context of litigation. Geosyntec's client was a
former tenant at the Site from December 1981 to June 1988. Our client is the defendant
in a lawsuit filed by the current property owner, The Newark Group.
2. The samples discussed in Attachment 1 are the only samples that Geosyntec collected at
this site for this client.
3. The attached Tables 1, 2; and 3 are the same tables included in Attachment 1 except that
screening levels from the California Department of Toxic Substance Control (CHSSLs)
and the Regional Water Quality Control Board San Francisco Bay Region (ESLs) have
been added to the far right coiumn of each table. The County's letter states that toluene
and TPHd were detected in the soil and groundwater samples. A review.of those tables
will indicate the following:
Letter to RWQCB 1 Apr 201 l.doc
Gf3Vw w
