(AGE), on your behalf for the above-
referenced site. The EHD had directed the submittal of a feasibility study/evaluation to
remediate the petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in the `Underground Storage Tank No. 3
area (the southeast petroleum hydrocarbon contaminant plume) by letters dated 15 September
2009, 19 December 2011, 05 April 2012 and 15 November 2012.
In Remediation Feasibility Evaluation, AGE compared two remedial technologies, groundwater
extraction and chemical oxidation by in-situ ozone sparging (IOS), to treat petroleum
hydrocarbon contamination in groundwater. Of the two remedial methods, AGE recornmended
IOS and proposed preparing an ozone injection remediation work plan.
The EHD concurs with AGE's recommendation to prepare a work plan to install an ozone
sparging system and directs that the work plan be submitted to this agency by 31 July 2013. As
mentioned in the EHD letter dated 05 April 2012, you must submit a Notice of Intent for the
injection permit to comply with the terms of General Waste Discharge (WDR), and a draft
Monitoring and Reporting Program to the California Regional Water Quality Control Board
Central Valley Region for their review and comment.
If you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-
9852, or by email at vrnccartney(dsicehd.com.
Sincerely,
Victoria L.
