PEA!
Advanced l i-
GeoEnvlronmental;9InO'g, -o
of Northern California
07 April 1997
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0235
Mr. Steve Sasson
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY PHS-EHD
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: West Clay Properties
655 West Clay Street, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Sasson:
As a follow up to our telephone cotwersation of 218 March 1997, we have the following comments
concerning additional investigation at 655 West Clay Street, Stockton, California (the site):
• Soil presently stockpiled at the north end of the site will be used to backfil I the former UST
excavation. Since additional fill material will be needed, it will be imported to the site and
used to backfill the bottom five feet of the excavation. The area will then be covered with
asphalt. West Clay Properties would like to initiate backfill procedures on 10 April 1997.
• Only low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in grab ground water
samples collected from probe borings B-6 and B-8, advanced in November 1996. "Therefore,
we anticipate the locations of B-6 and 13-8 represent the up-gradient and down-gradient
extent of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume.
• Ground ,vater has risen above the screened intervals in all monitoring wells at t'-:e site.
Therefore, ground water samples collected from these wells may not be representatives of
actual aquifer conditions. Additional ground water monitoring wells will be necessary at the
site.
• Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) will submit a Work Plan Addendum for the
installation of the additional monitoring wells. The wells will be installed near The locations
of borings B-6 and B-8. Upon installation of the monitoring wells, --round water samples will
be collected from all wells at the site.
• The necessity for ground water remediation will be detern-iined based upon analytical results
of ground water samples.
• AGE will provide the PHS-EHD will analytical results of ground water samples collected
1803 West March Lane, Suite A,Stockton,California 95207
Telephone(209)956-0264 FAX(209)956-0700
