Jeff Carruesco [EH]
From: Jeff Carruesco [EH]
Sent: Monday, August 24, 2009 2:00 PM
To: gist @sjgov.org'
Subject: FW: North Lake HOA
From: Jeff Carruesco [EH]
Sent: Monday, August 24, 2009 1:59 PM
To: 'bfactor@sjgov.org'
Cc: Ray Borges [EH]
Subject: North Lake HOA
Bill, I got your message regarding the Northlake HOA pool at 3708 Ft. Donelson in Stockton.
Section 31158.4 of California Code of Regulations Title 24, Public Swimming Pools states, "Showers and
lavatories shall be provided with hot and cold water". This is required in both men's and women's restrooms. I'm
not sure if showers are available at this site.
California Retail Food Code also calls for every "food facility"to have a mop sink with hot water. However, given
the food served and the seasonal hours at the North Lake HOA I may grant a variance from this requirement
given the following are met:
1. Your HOA provides to us a list of types of foods sold. The food can only be pre-packaged, non-potentially
hazardous foods. Meaning chips, candy, soda, water(foods in original package that do not require
handling, heating or other preparation)would only be permitted for sale. Nachos, hot dogs, burritos, hot
pockets, etc., would not be permitted from this site.
2. Your HOA will also need to let our department know how they will provide hot water for mopping purposes
inside the snack bar. If it will come from the lavatory in the restroom into a mop bucket, then that must be
stated.
Provide the above information, in writing, for review to our department in order to receive a variance from the mop
sink requirement. Once our department reviews this, we will make a determination and let you know our findings.
Please call if you have further questions,
Jeff Carruesco, REHS Program Coordinator
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 E. Main Street, Stockton, CA 95202
ph: (209)468-3438
fax: (209)464-0138
icarruesco@sicehd.com
8/24/2009
