CHRONOLOGY
N & S IRRIGATION
215 MAIN STREET, RIPON
01/15/87 Date the Environmental Health Department (EHD) staff was
informed that the 1500 gallon and 2500 gallon gasoline
underground storage tanks (UST) that had permit fees paid for their
operation on March 4, 1986, had been removed. The UST's were
removed without permit or inspection by EHD. The owner did not
remember when the UST's were removed. The owner was
informed that a closure plan had to be submitted to EHD and soil
samples had to be collected from beneath the former UST location
and analyzed.
03/22/90 The UST area was excavated and on this date the EHD inspector
noted odor and discoloration to the soil and observed collection of
soil samples at 11 feet below surface grade (bsg).
05/25/90 Date EHD reviewed the soil analytical results that showed low
levels of contamination. A notification of hazardous waste
discharge and an unauthorized release report were filed.
02/12/97 The site was placed in the Local Oversight Program.
11/14/97 Date two soil borings were drilled to 30 feet bsg in the area of the
former UST's. Soil and grab water samples were collected.
01/14/98 Date of "Summary Report Subsurface Investigation" covering
11/14/97 work. Groundwater was impacted with contaminants.
07/13/98 Date four soil borings were drilled to depths of 26 to 31 feet bsg
about 40 to 60 feet from the former UST location.
09/09/98 Date of "Summary Report of Additional Subsurface Investigation
covering 7/13/98 work.
02/08/99 Monitoring wells MW1, MW2, and MW3 installed this date.
06/01/99 Date of "Summary Report of Additional Subsurface Investigation"
covering 2/08/99 work. Soil samples from 30.5 feet bsg in MW 1
and MW3 had contamination.
01/26/01 Date of EHD letter requesting work plan for lateral and vertical
investigation.
09/12/01 Date five soil borings to 25 feet were completed but water
g p samples
were not collected.
I
