1 <br /> r ` <br /> 24 October 1997 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 96-0235 <br /> Page 8 of I 1 _ <br /> elevations are tabulated in Table 3 - Ground Water Elevation <br /> After recording water level measurements, a two-stage submersible pump was used to purge the <br /> I monitoring wells of standing water A minimum of three well volumes of water were removed from <br /> each well twenty gallons of water were removed from MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3, eight gallons of <br /> water were removed from MW-4 and MW-5 Ground water temperature,pH and conductivity were <br /> measured at four-gallon intervals for MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3, and at one-gallon intervals for MW- <br /> 4 and MW-5 using an ICM water analyzer These parameters fairly well stabilized by the conclusion <br /> of the purging procedures (see Appendix E) Purged water was stored on-site in labeled, 55-gallon <br />' DOT-approved drums <br /> 10 2 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> I Water samples were collected from Each well using a new disposable plastic bailer Each water <br /> sample was transferred into three 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5 ml of 18% hydrochloric acid as <br /> a sample preservative and into two I-liter amber bottles without preservative After collection, the <br /> samples were properly labeled,placed in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody <br /> to MAI Each sample was analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, TPH-mo, O&G, BTE&X and MTBE <br /> Analytical methods utilized are noted on the laboratory report in Appendix C r <br /> 10 3 FINDINGS <br /> 103 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION <br /> The relative elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the-ground water <br /> depth from the relative casing elevations of MW-2 through MW-5 corrected to the surveyed casing ' <br /> elevation of MW-1 (Table 1) The casing elevation of MW-1 and MW-3 had been previously <br /> surveyed relative to a bench mark Monitoring well MW-2 had previously been surveyed, but the <br /> casing was cut shorter during grading on the site <br /> Ddpths to ground water ranged from 20 53 feet to 21 85 feet below the well casing Ground water <br /> ' elevations at the site ranged from -19 39 feet in MW-4 to -17 73 feet in MW-2 The ground water <br /> flow direction for 27 May 1997, was complex, as a trough of lower elevation ground water cuts <br /> diagonally, northwest/southeast across the property due to the low in MW-2, causing all flow <br /> directions on the property to be toward MW-2 If the trough continues northwestward, then the' <br /> overall flow direction may also be toward the northwest The contoured ground water flow <br /> elevations for this ground water monitoring event are depicted in Figure 6 - Ground Water Elevation <br /> 27 May 1997 - <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmentel,Inc <br />
