The Report
describes the soil excavation activities and provides the results for 10 soil samples and one grab
groundwater sample. Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and TPHd were detected
in four soil samples. The grab groundwater sample had 260 micrograms per liter(µg/1) of TPHg,
23,000 µg/1 of TPHd and 82 µg/l of methyl tertiary butyl ether. These concentrations are all
above their respective water quality objectives. Table 1 in the Report did not include lead
results, but based on the laboratory report included, lead was detected in the two composite
samples collected from the soil generated during excavation activities.
Based on the concentrations in the grab groundwater,by 1 July 2002,please submit a work plan
to delineate the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum pollution at the site along with a schedule
to perform the work. Soil and groundwater samples must include lead analyses. The work plan
should be prepared in general accordance with the attached Items To Be Included In A Site
Assessment Work Plan.
