Six domestic water supply wells at properties surrounding
the former Countryside Market were also sampled during this groundwater assessment.
The on-site domestic well was sampled by purging the well for approximately twelve minutes prior to sample
collection. A portable generator positioned on the well pad powered the well pump. The generator and pump
were shut off before sample collection, and water from the small holding tank was collected for analysis. The
water sample was collected from a hose bib at the wellhead using a clean brass hose connector and a one foot
piece of disposable polyethylene tubing to transfer the water sample from the hose bib into sample containers
provided by the laboratory. The sample containers were labeled, placed directly into a pre-cooled ice chest with
ice, and submitted to California Laboratory Services (CLS)in Rancho Cordova for analysis by EPA Method
8260B for volatile organic compounds and fuel oxygenates. The sample was designated"CSM10848"for 10848
Copperopolis Road domestic well, and the trip blank was designated"CSM10650".
The water sample from your domestic well did not contain any constituents at respective detection limits. A copy
of the CLS laboratory report is attached for your records. However, estimated values for benzene and toluene as
well as other tentatively identified compounds(TICS)were identified below respective reporting limits. These
estimated values and TLCs may be due to vapors from the generator, and we would like to re-sample your well
once you have connected to permanent power. Please contact me at the number below once permanent power is
supplied to your well.
If you have any questions, please call me at(916)255-3115.
MaAy Hartell
Associate Engineering Geologist
Attachments
cc: Ms.Margaret Lagorio, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division, Stockton
California Environmental Protection Agency
;r4 Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing Califomia is real.
