KLE/NFELOER <br /> \` F.iplu veopk FµInblWe.v. <br /> At this time Kleinfelder proposes to drill no deeper than 120 feet in each location. We <br /> have not been provided with on-site groundwater data at this time, thus only a <br /> preliminary estimate of effort can be provided at this time. However, Kleinfelder <br /> reviewed well drillers logs for the area which indicated wells are approximately 200- <br /> 300+ feet deep and draw water from approximately 215-317 feet bgs. First encountered <br /> groundwater is anticipated to be approximately 100 feet bgs based on our experience in <br /> the area which includes a monitoring well drilled west of the site to a depth of <br /> approximately 130 feet. Perched zones of water may be encountered prior to <br /> encountering first groundwater, but will be penetrated to the targeted depth for <br /> groundwater sample collection. <br /> During the advancement of the borings, soil samples will be collected at five-foot <br /> intervals using standard drive samplers and 6-inch long brass tubes. When drilling <br /> nears the anticipated groundwater depth, the SimulProbe sampler will be used for <br /> sample collection. The retrieved samples will be observed for lithologic classification <br /> and qualitative field screening. Lithologic classification will be based on the Unified Soil <br /> Classification System (USCS). The soil in the boreholes will be qualitatively screened in <br /> the field using a photo-ionization detector (PID) for the presence of volatile organic <br /> constituents. PID readings will be recorded on a field data sheet. An experienced <br /> environmental engineer or geologist will log the soil borings. All equipment used in the <br /> drilling procedures will be cleaned and/or decontaminated by steam cleaning between <br /> borings. <br /> After collection of the grab groundwater sample, the boirng will be left open up to about <br /> one hour to allow for the groundwater elevation to stabilize. The depth to water will be <br /> measured with a conductivity based water level indicator from ground surface. <br /> IDW <br /> The investigative derived wastes (IDW), which includes soil cuttings and wastewater <br /> generated during drilling, equipment decontamination, and well development and <br /> sampling water, will be contained in labeled DOT approved drums. The drums will be <br /> labeled and temporarily stored on-site pending analytical results in an area designated <br /> by the City of Tracy. The drums will be stored until analytical results are made available <br /> to determine whether special handling is required. In accordance with the RWQCB <br /> request, the IDW sample results will be presented to the RWQCB staff prior to its <br /> disposal.
