4 KLEINFEL0ER
6 DISCUSSION OF FINDINGS
' This following is a discussion of analytical results and findings from Kleinfelder's limited soil
sampling and analyses conducted at the site. The soil and groundwater sampling results were
' compared as possible to one or more of the following sources of regulatory limits or goals:
• California Code of Regulations 22CCR§66261.24
The U.S. EPA Region IX Preliminary Remediation Goals (PRGs) for residential use, dated
November 1, 2000.
• California Environmental Protection Agency, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central
' Valley Region, A Compilation of Water Quality Goals, dated August 2000.
Kleinfelder's findings are also based on field observations, the proposed residential use of the
' site, analytical methods limitations, specific proposed land use of the impacted areas, etc.
6.1 SOIL SAMPLING RESULTS
' Soil samples were collected from three excavations areas and from four temporary well borings.
Forty (40) soil samples were submitted for various analyses including primarily petroleum
' constituents. A summary of the results are illustrated in Tables 1 through 4. The locations of
each of the areas discussed below are illustrated on Plate 2. The following is a discussion of
' findings of the differing areas assessed.
6.1.1 Shallow Excavation A(SE-A)
' Approximately 10 yards of stained soil was removed from SE-A. The stained areas were
excavated laterally and vertically until discoloration and petroleum-type odor was no longer
' noted. A single confirmation samples was taken in the center of SE-A and analyzed for TPH-D
and TPH-O. TPH-D and TPH-O were not detected at or above laboratory reporting limits for this
soil sample.
' Based on the analytical results and field observations, it appears that the stained soil has been
removed and therefore Kleinfelder does not recommend further action in this area. Additionally
' the proposed plan by Fitzpatrick Homes shows that this area will be covered by asphalt and
concrete which would further limits access to any residual impacted soil, if present.
' 20-4341-11.1301/201IR959 Page 23 of 31
Copyright 2001,Kleinfelder,Inc.
