' 0 Ol
A description of the methodology for the installation of the boring, collection of soil
samples, and equipment decontamination are presented in Appendix B.
Upon completion of groundwater sample collection the MW will be destroyed by
removing the well casing and filter pack from the boring and filling the boring to ground
' surface with a cement-bentonite grout. The groundwater produced during the purging
of the MW will be properly containerized, pending disposal of the material by the client.
' 4.0 Sample Containers, Preservation, and Documentation
Soil will be collected in 6-inch by 2-inch brass sample sleeves (hollow stem). After
removal from the sample barrel the ends of the soil sample containers will be covered
with Teflon® plastic sheeting and sealed with slip-on plastic end caps. Groundwater
' samples will be collected in unpreserved 1-liter amber glass bottles equipped with
screw-on caps. Samples of soil and groundwater collected during the performance of
the scope of work will be properly preserved and documented.
After collection of the sample a label containing the following information will be
attached to the sample container; 1) date and time of collection, 2) sample identification
number, 3) project number, 4) identity of sample collector, and 5) analysis required.
Sample collection information will be entered onto a Chain of Custody (COC) form that
will accompany the samples during their residency at the site and during transport to the
' laboratory that will perform the requisite analysis.
Preservation of the sample(s) will be achieved by placing the sample containers into a
' pre-cooled container and maintained at a temperature of approximately 4 °C until the
sample(s) are delivered to the laboratory. Preservation of the sample(s) beyond cooling
is not required.
Copies of the COC will be included with the analytical results presented in the report
that will be prepared to document this investigation and remediation.
CE Project No.99R-4041
Additional Investigation Work Plan 5
