L
Pro at 30600 South Corral Hollow
Property Road
L Tracy, California
Exploratory Excavation for Re-Sample
REPORT
L
1.0 PROJECT IDENTIFICATION
LThis project, conducted at 30640 South Corral Hollow Road in Tracy(Figure 1), involved
the re-excavation of a former underground tank facility. The scope of work included the
removal of petroleum contaminated soils previously identified during the tank removal and
L additional contaminated soils disclosed during this excavation.
1, 1.1 Site History
L Shortly before the requirements for double walled tanks, eight single walled
underground storage tanks were installed at this facility. The tanks were in
operation from about 1985 to 1994.
On or about March 18, 1998, SEMCO obtained a tank closure permit and
removed all eight, 12,000 gallon underground storage tanks from the subject
property. Soil samples were obtained at various depths (15 feet maximum) from
under the tanks, piping and dispenser islands (Figure 2). The soil samples taken
under the tanks and dispensers near the southeast portion of the facility disclosed
the highest concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons.
L 2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
On Monday November 16, 1998 SEMCO began to prepare the area around the former
L underground tanks, and fuel islands, for excavation. Two to three feet of the suspected
clean overburden m the area of the former fuel islands was removed and stockpiled as
"Overburden 1". Additional soils were removed by trenching along the length of the fuel
L island area, to about 5 feet in depth, and stockpiled as "Overburden 2". The trenching
exposed areas of contaminated soils beginning at three feet in depth. Most of the
remaining overburden, around the former fuel islands, was excavated to an average depth
Lof five feet and stockpiled as contaminated soil pile"SS-9".
L
