( Section 1
Introduction
On behalf of the State of California, Division of the State Architect (DSA), Tetra Tech, Inc.
has completed a preliminary site assessment at a former underground storage tank (UST) site
at Castle Rock Forest Fire Station, located at 34580 Corral Hollow in Tracy, California. The
work was conducted in response to compliance requirements established by the San Joaquin
County Public Health Services (SJPHS).
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the soil surrounding a former 550-gallon diesel
UST. This preliminary site assessment was implemented to determine if petroleum
hydrocarbons from the tank had impacted local subsurface soil and groundwater. The
assessment was implemented by drilling two soil borings at the tank cavity for sample
collection. Soil samples and hydro-punched groundwater samples were collected for
laboratory analysis for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons by EPA Method 8015M (diesel
fractions), Aromatic Volatile Organics by EPA 8020 and Total Lead by EPA 7420.
The following report provides a brief history of previously conducted work, a description of
the field methodology for the site investigation, a presentation of the analytical results, and
recommendations for further action. Supporting documentation, such as soil boring logs and
laboratory results are presented in Appendices A through D.
t
TETRA TECH:Castle Rock Forest Fim Station,Preliminary Site Assessment Report Page I
