No cadmium, chromium, lead, naphthalene, creosote, or PCBs were detected.
Nickel and zinc were detected at 9.1 and 160 parts per billion (ppb),respectively.
On August 4 through 6, 2003, Cambria completed the cone penetration test borings proposed in
our November 12, 2002 Response Letter/Site Conceptual ModeUSite Investigation Work Plan.
The findings of this investigation will be reported under separate cover.
ANTICIPATED FOURTH QUARTER 2003 ACTIVITIES
Blaine will coordinate quarterly sampling events with the Tosco station, gauge and sample the
site wells according to the existing sampling schedule, and tabulate the data. Cambria will
prepare a groundwater monitoring report.
• As proposed in Cambria's November 19, 2002 Response Letter/Site Conceptual Model/Site
Investigation Work Plan, samples from well S-3 have been analyzed for naphthalene, creosote,
and PCBs for two quarters. Samples from this well were also analyzed for dissolved metals as
requested in SJCEHD's January 8, 2003 letter. No cadmium, chromium, lead, naphthalene,
creosote, or PCBs have been detected. Nickel and zinc have been detected up to 9.1 and
195 ppb, respectively, which are below the maximum contaminant levels for these constituents
(100 and 5,000 ppb, respectively). Therefore, these analyses will be discontinued starting with
the fourth quarter 2003 sampling event.
0943 2
