Subsurface Investigation Report,Tosco(Former BP)Service StationNo 11 192 <br /> �i June 8,2001 <br /> 3.0 FIELD WORK <br /> Field work was conducted in accordance with GR's Field Methods and Procedures (Appendix A), <br /> the GR Health and Safety Plan and Site Safety Plan dated April 23, 2001 Geoprobes0 and CPT <br /> borings were advanced under drilling permit numbers 0025915 through 0025918, issued April 20, <br /> 2001, by PHS-EHD Encroachment permit numbers EPO1-084-CC and EPO1-085-CC from the San <br /> Joaquin County Department of Public Works, were issued April 18, 2001 for the advancement of <br /> Geoprobes B-2 through B-4, B-7 and B-8 Geoprobe B-1 was advanced under encroachment permit <br /> number 66372, issued April 16, 2001, by the City of Stockton Department of Public Work Copies <br /> of the permits are included in Appendix B <br /> Underground Service Alert (USA) was notified prior to drilling at the site As a precautionary <br /> measure, a private utility locator was contracted to identify utilities near the proposed boring <br /> locations The borings were hand excavated, with a 3 inch diameter hand auger, for the first five feet <br /> bgs to insure that no utilities were disturbed <br /> 3.1 Geoprobe®Advancement <br /> On April 24 and 25, 2001, a GR geologist observed Fisch Environmental Exploration Services (C57 <br /> •� #683865) advance six offsite Geoprobes (B-1 through B-4 and B-7 and B-8), two onsite geoprobes <br /> (B-5 and B-6) and two onsite CPT boring (CPT-1) All borings were advanced with a truck mounted <br /> rig and locations of the borings are shown on Figure 2 <br /> The geoprobe borings were advanced to 17 feet bgs Soil sampling for lithologic logging was <br /> conducted continuously beginning at 5 feet bgs Soil samples from selected depths were collected <br /> for chemical analysis The soil samples were handled in accordance with GR Field Methods and <br /> Procedures ( Appendix A) The GR geologist prepared logs of the Geoprobes and screened the <br /> samples in the field for the presence of volatile organic compounds Screening data and the depths <br /> at which soil and groundwater samples were collected are presented on the boring logs in Appendix <br /> B <br /> 3.2 Groundwater Sampling <br /> After,groundwater was encountered, probing was halted and grab groundwater samples were <br /> collected from each boring with a disposable teflon bailer The samples were decanted into the <br /> appropriate laboratory-supplied containers, as described in GR's field methods and procedures <br /> (Appendix A) <br /> 14024503-3 <br /> 3 <br />
