Subsurface Investigation Report,Tosco(Former BP) Service StahonNo 11192
June 8 2001
southeast portions of the site and offsite to the south Based on these results, GR will propose the
installation of additional groundwater monitoring wells in the vicinity of the site In addition, GR
recommends that joint groundwater monitoring and sampling be conducted with the former Shell
site to utilize data from their existing monitoring well network to the east of the Tosco site
The highest concentration of MTBE found during this investigation was to the grab groundwater
sample collected at 75 feet bgs to CPT-1 Despite precautions used in advancing CPT-1, cross-
contamination from shallow MTBE-impacted groundwater may be the source of the MTBE
concentrations observed in CPT-1 In addition, grab groundwater sample results may not be
representative of actual groundwater conditions Therefore, GR will propose the installation of one
deep groundwater monitoring well in the vicinity of CPT-1 to further assess the groundwater
conditions at the depth of 75 feet near CPT-1 A work plan for the deep monitoring well, and the
aforementioned shallow monitoring wells will be submitted to the PHS-EHD within 30 days of the
date of this report
x
140245 03 3
7
