1
There are numerous small businesses located along County Club
Drive, and a mini-mart and gas station on the south end, (facing
' Roselawn Ave. , ) of the lot to the east. The rest of the area is
almost exclusively zoned for single family residences. PLATE I
is a portion of the map of the city of Stockton showing the
' location of the property.
GEOL991C & GE tPHI HIRM-
The site is located in the southern portion of what is referred
to as the Sacramento Valley, which is within the geomorphic
province called the Great Valley of California. This large
' basin, which contains in excess of 25,000 feet of sediments,
extends from Red Bluff on the north to the Transverse ranges on
the south. The sediments have been derived primarily from
erosion of the Sierra Nevada Batholith to the east, which have
' been periodically reworked and redeposited by the many rivers and
streams.
The Calaveras river is about 1 mile to the north of the property.
and the Smith Canal is a short distance to the south. They both
empty into the Stockton Deep Fater Channel which is to the west
and south. Regional slope is generally towards the west; the
gradient is very flat, less than 5 feet per mile. Refer to PLL TE
11 for more details.
' SOIL (:LASSIFICATIQX:--
According to the publication issued by the University of Calif . ,
' Berkley, in 1952, The surface soils consist of Stockton Adobe
Clay and Honcut Clay over Capay & Stockton. These soils are
derived from alluvial fans & floodplain deposits; they have good
surface and intermediate subsoil drainage, with a Storie index of
56. PLATE III is a portion of the soil profile map from that
publication.
DEJ
21H TO GROUM T
According to semi.--annual maps published by the San Joaquin County
' Flood Control District, groundwater was about 15 feet below
ground level , (bgl, ) in the Spring of 1983 & 1986, the highest
levels recorded in the past ten years I The latest
County map available at the time of this report is for the Spring
' of 1992; the water table was recorded at approximately 30 feet
bgl. Recent communication from the County EHD revealed that
monitoring wells in the area have recently measured groundwater
' in the range of 32' to 40' bgl, which agrees closely with the
County maps. Because of the heavier than normal rainfall which
2
