The rest of the area is <br /> almost exclusively zoned for single family residences. PLATE I <br /> is a portion of the map of the city of Stockton showing the <br /> ' location of the property. <br /> GEOL991C & GE tPHI HIRM- <br /> The site is located in the southern portion of what is referred <br /> to as the Sacramento Valley, which is within the geomorphic <br /> province called the Great Valley of California. This large <br /> ' basin, which contains in excess of 25,000 feet of sediments, <br /> extends from Red Bluff on the north to the Transverse ranges on <br /> the south. The sediments have been derived primarily from <br /> erosion of the Sierra Nevada Batholith to the east, which have <br /> ' been periodically reworked and redeposited by the many rivers and <br /> streams. <br /> The Calaveras river is about 1 mile to the north of the property. <br /> and the Smith Canal is a short distance to the south. They both <br /> empty into the Stockton Deep Fater Channel which is to the west <br /> and south. Regional slope is generally towards the west; the <br /> gradient is very flat, less than 5 feet per mile. Refer to PLL TE <br /> 11 for more details. <br /> ' SOIL (:LASSIFICATIQX:-- <br /> According to the publication issued by the University of Calif . , <br /> ' Berkley, in 1952, The surface soils consist of Stockton Adobe <br /> Clay and Honcut Clay over Capay & Stockton. These soils are <br /> derived from alluvial fans & floodplain deposits; they have good <br /> surface and intermediate subsoil drainage, with a Storie index of <br /> 56. PLATE III is a portion of the soil profile map from that <br /> publication. <br /> DEJ <br /> 21H TO GROUM T <br /> According to semi.--annual maps published by the San Joaquin County <br /> ' Flood Control District, groundwater was about 15 feet below <br /> ground level , (bgl, ) in the Spring of 1983 & 1986, the highest <br /> levels recorded in the past ten years I The latest <br /> County map available at the time of this report is for the Spring <br /> ' of 1992; the water table was recorded at approximately 30 feet <br /> bgl. Recent communication from the County EHD revealed that <br /> monitoring wells in the area have recently measured groundwater <br /> ' in the range of 32' to 40' bgl, which agrees closely with the <br /> County maps.
