Appendix V <br /> PH DMTER CALIBRATION PROCEDURES <br /> (1} Calibrate the pH meter at least once per day, twice if <br /> Possible. You will need: <br /> Squirt bottle with distilled or reverse <br /> osmosis water; <br /> PH 7 buffer <br /> PH 4 buffer <br /> PH 10 buffer <br /> Kimwipes- or- clean- paper towels <br /> Bound notebook for recording pH readings <br /> (2) Rinse the probe with distilled or reverse osmosis water. <br /> Gently wipe any excess liquid from the probe. <br /> (3 ) Place probe in pH 7 buffer. Let sit for about 2 minutes_ <br /> (4) Record pH_ Adjust meter to pH 7 with the calibration knob. <br /> (5) rase the probe again with the squirt bottle. Place the <br /> probe in pH 4 buffer <br /> (6) Let it sit for about 2 minutes. Record the pH. <br /> (7) Rinse the probe again,. Place the probe in pH 10 buffer. <br /> (8) Let it sit for about 2 minutes_ Record the pH_ <br /> (9) Rinse the probe again and replace in the solution to be <br /> analyzed. <br /> Note: Use small bottles of buffer for everyday calibration. These <br /> small bottles should be dumped once or twice every month_ <br /> The buffer that is used everyday will get cloudy and <br /> contaminated_ When this happens. change the buffer_ <br /> 10 <br />
