Prior to initiating discharge, a water
sample was obtained of the treated water, stored in a drum on April 1, 2005. All sewer
discharge requirements were nnet. Treated groundwater discharge to sewer commenced
on April 8, 2005. Upon receipt of the April 29, 2005 analytical results the system was
shut down due to the presence of TBA in the effluent stream at 7.1 ug/L. A total of
230,314 gallons of treated groundwater had been discharged to the sanitary sewer clean-
out at the site. The number one carbon unit was removed from the system and to new
carbon units were added (number 4 and number 5 positions). A sample of the effluent
was obtained on May 12, 2005 with no further discharge to sewer. It is anticipated that
continuous discharge will commence upon receipt of sample results showing that
compliance with permit conditions has been met, see Table and Laboratory Reports
attached to this report.
During this time period the LEL sensor has been replaced. The initial sensor was
sensitive to water vapor and showed high LEL responses (4-7%). Upon replacing the
sensor, normal LEL readings have been achieved (1%).
I certify under penalty of law that this document and all attachments were prepared under
my direction or supervision in accordance with a system designed to assure that qualified
personnel properly gather and evaluate the information submitted. Based on my inquiry
of the person or persons who manage the system, or those persons directly responsible for
gathering the information, the information submitted is to the best of my knowledge and
belief, true, accurate, and complete. I am aware that there are significant penalties for
submitting false information, including the possibility of fine and imprisonment for
knowing v tions.
George Converse, Vice President Operations date
