Upgradien:'r Environmental G&n.sultants
January 31, 2000
Mr. Michael Infurna
PHS/EHD
P. O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Request to Delay Drilling y
Kwikee Food Mart
2081 Country Club Boulevard
Dear Mr. Infurna:
Prior to our telephone conversation this morning,I spoke with Ms. Veronica
Pennington at the State UST Cleanup Fund regarding reimbursement of previously billed
costs for the referenced site. She informed me that reimbursement request#1 is still under
review at this time, and that she is unable to proceed with her review until the technical
review unit has completed its review of the technical portion of the file. This will likely
delay reimbursement until sometime in February, or perhaps March.
In addition, the paperwork that we submitted at the beginning of the month for
pre-approval of the anticipated costs for the next phase of investigation is also still under
review, and it would be unwise to proceed with the scheduled field work until approval
has been granted.
Therefore,we respectfully request that we delay the proposed drilling until late
February or the beginning of March. At this time,Upgradient has reserved February 27
and 28 and March 2 with V&W Drilling, and, depending on your schedule, we could
perform the work at this site on any of those days.
Delaying the drilling would also delay the completion of the 1 st Quarter Report
beyond the February 22 deadline. With the revised drilling date, w6 oW-J p&C;UdW J
of March 31 for receipt of the report at your office.
