Specifically, we would like to ammend the locations of some of the
proposed monitoring wells because we believe that revised locations will provide more useful
results. This request is based on the information that was gained during the March 1998 tank
removal, the May 1998 drilling investigation around the tank area, subsequent groundwater
monitoring events, and the removal of miscellaneous stored equipment that previously blocked
access to the rear of the Kwikee property. It will now be possible to install a well in the northeast
corner of the property, behind the building (see the attached site map). Two additional wells will
be placed along the south property line to determine whether groundwater contamination extends
off site to the south(or, alternatively, increases to the south, suggesting an additional
contaminant source south of the site). The fourth well will be placed in the front yard of the
neighboring residence, and I have enclosed copies of my letter to him requesting permission to
drill there and his letter granting authorization.
We do not propose to alter the sampling or analytical protocol. All of the proposed wells are
beyond the mapped limit of soil contamination, and we do not anticipate encountering any
contaminated soil. Currently, we are budgeting for two soil samples per boring, and requesting
pre-approval from the UST Cleanup Fund for four quarters of groundwater monitoring.
Stockton: P.O.
