The property is owned by William Peters and is leased
to an independent operator. Unleaded gasoline is stored in two 10,000-gallon underground storage
tanks (UST's) and sold from a pair of dispensers in the front portion of the property. Upgradient
Environmental Consultants (Upgradient) was retained by Mr. Peters to witness the removal of the
UST's and to collect appropriate samples as directed by the Environmental Health Division (EHD)
of San Joaquin County. Removal of the UST's was performed under the oversight of the Stockton
Fire Department(SFD)and Michael Kiff of EHD.
Soil and groundwater contamination by petroleum products was first reported at this site in 1990,
and the site is currently being assessed by Upgradient under the supervision of Michael Infurna of
EHD. Upgradient prepared Quarterly reports in January 1995, April 1995, October 1995, October
1997, and December 1997.
2.0 BACKGROUND ItN ORMATZON
2.1 Site Location and Description
The project site is located at 2081 Country Club Boulevard in west-central Stockton. The location
of the site is shown in Figure 1, and the site facilities are shown in Figure 2. The site is located in a
residential/commercial area, and the local topography is flat. A Chevron gasoline station was
formerly located across Franklin Street from the site, but has been demolished and is presently
undergoing monitoring of soil and groundwater contamination resulting from activities at that site.
2.2 Previous Work
One groundwater monitoring well was installed near the dispenser island in 1990, and two more
wells were installed on the property in 1994. All groundwater samples that have subsequently been
collected from these wells were contaminated with gasoline and various volatile hydrocarbons.
1
