Peters Kwikee Food
Preliminary Site Assessment Report 7
Project No.01.46.1.1 LW '
22 June 1990
Page 4
transport to GeoAnalytical Laboratories. Soil samples not analyzed were kept
refrigerated for a holding time of thirty days.
:.4 Boring Abandonment Procedure
The soil borings were abandoned by emplacing a Benseal plug and then filling to
grade with cement grout.
5.5 Disposition of Soil Boring Cuttings
Soil cuttings will be containerized by stockpiling and covering with plastic.
5.6 dross Contamination Prevention
All sampling equipment (split spoon sampler, brass tubes, bailer, & pumps) and
auger (drilling rod, drilling bits, &z auger) was thoroughly steam cleaned before being
used and between uses. Plastic gloves were worn while collecting samples and
changed between samples.
3.9 Chain of Custody
Chain of Custody (CofC) forms are legal documents used to track the handling of
samples. All dates, times, persons, and their companies are listed from the time the
sample is collected to its receipt by the lab. A CofC form will be filled out and
tracked for all samples collected to insure sample integrity.
5.8 Monitoring Well Design
The well is constructed of 2-inch threaded-joint PVC pipe (schedule 40) that is
perforated from the bottom of the well to about 5 feet above the water table.
Number 3 sand was used to create a filter pack that extends from the bottom of the
well to 2 feet above the perforated zone. A granular/pelletal bentonite was
emplaced in the annular above the filter pack. The monitoring well was secured
and a surface seal obtained by cementing in a water tight well box and a locking cap.
Construction of the monitoring well is shown in Figure 3.
