6. Present the results of the investigation in a report
with a summary of the work performed.
MONITORING W= INSTALLATION
On November 3 and 1, 1986, Groundwater Technology installed
three monitoring wells at the site with truck mounted 10.5-inch
outside diameter hollow stem auger drilling equipment. Moni-
toring well 1 was installed east of the underground fuel storage
tanks and monitoring well 2 was installed north of the under-
ground fuel storage tanks. Monitoring well 3 is located on the
eastern edge of the former pump island area. The monitoring well
locations are shown on the site plan (See Figure 2). The total
depth of each well is 30 feet below ground surface. The project
geologist supervised the drilling and continuously logged the
soils encountered using the Unified Soil Classification System
(See Appendix I for drill logs).
Each well was constructed with 4-inch diameter PVC well
screen and blank casing. Slotted well screen (0.020 inch) was
installed from 5 to 30 feet below the ground surface and blank
casing was installed from 5 feet to the ground surface. A well
pack consisting of 12 Monterey sand was placed in the annulus
between the bore hole and the well casing from the bottom of the
bore moles to 9.5 feet below the ground surface. The wells were
completed with a surface seal consisting of approximately 1 foot
of bentonite above the sand pack and 2 feet of concrete. A
traffic rated street box and locking cap vere installed at the
top of each well. Monitoring well installation and construction
were conducted in accordance with Groundwater Technology's
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) 13 (Soe Appendix II )..ypical well construction details are shown in Figure 3.
