40* Page 1 of 2
I
Mike Infurna [EH]
From : Mike Infurna [EH]
Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2007 10 :06 AM
To : 'Myers, Tonya'
Cc: 'Evans, David' 3 f
Subject: Chevron 94054
Tonya/ David ,
Priorities finally allowed me to review some reports for this site.
I just finished Groundwater Assessment Report,' dated March 30 , 2007 . I received it quite awhile ago on
Geotracker and printed it out and put it in my line of reports awaiting review. Sorry for taking so long , but requests
for closures, CAPS , and permit/drilling field work all take precedence over report reviews .
I had some concerns with the following things .
1 -1 didn't see any 1 ,2-DCA data. THis is an older site and eventually the 1 ,2-DCA question will have to be
answered . Sites requesting NFA (eventually) are required to have EDB and 1 ,2-DCA soil and ground water data
on file prior to being evaluated for closure . Reports this large should be formatted in the context of a SCM . I will
require ALL reports of findings in the future to be in this format and updated as new data is collected. All soil data
for all detectable constituents are to be in the tables .
2- The "B" zone is a problem for this site. I didn 't see any zero lines for TPH-GRO and Benzene . Also no MtBE
iso-cons were included . I consider the B zone undefined for at least TPH-GRO and Benzene. Further work is
needed . Iso cons in the future are to include ALL detectable COCs at all depths/zones.
3- Figures 12 , 14, 16, 21 , 23 , and 25 ALL refer to Benzene concentrations yet the legend lists TPH-GRO in the
explanation . These figures are be updated in FUTURE maps to include the COC noted on the map matching the
verbal explanation in the legend .
4- With hits in the C zone, your vertical definition is also undefined . Additional deeper monitoring wells are to
include soil samples/lab data for 1 ,2-DCA in areas where none exists now.
5-Table 1 longitude should be a NEGATIVE number. Please include "-" in front of the longitutude , Le: -
121 .32XXXXX, in future well details/report submittals.
6- Recent drilling for BAS on this site will aid your NW quadrant with data from their newly installed
_ wells. BAS-has installed deeper wells north_of Elmwood_on Franklin, East-of_Franklin_on_Oxford , and West of
Franklin on Elmwood . It appears your deeper investigations may be aide by these wells but
unfortunately your NNE areas east of Franklin on Elmwood will be your responsibility, as well as SE, S , and SW
of the former USTs on the Chevron site. Looks like a D zone investigation on site is warranted . The additional
work you noted in the report is to include these areas .
7- The "MCL" tables you included are not needed for the EHD . Unless specifically required by CHevron , please
do not include them in reports of findings during the investigative phase . If you wish to include this table in the
NFAR report, you may do so .
I'm awaiting the Soil vapor report and for recommendations related to soil removal as well as BAS's report for
their last phase . I won't 'deny' this report on Geotracker just because of the figures, this time.
All of my concerns noted above can be addressed in the Soil Vapor report of findings or the next work plan/phase
of work, if applicable. I'll let the Third - 2007 gw data provide data for any trends in the deeper zone . If the C zone
gw continues to record levels of concentrations that cannot support zero line conclusions, the work plan for
vertical investigation can include a discussion of the items I've noted here, especially if your soil vapor report is
near completion or already done. Either way, I should have all of the items addressed by Fourth Quarter 2007.
Call me if you have questions.
7/ 18/2007
