Local agency staff noted at the time of removal that
one of the tanks was leaking. Gasoline odor was noted in soil beneath the tank.
A follow-up investigation conducted during June 1985 detected hydrocarbon film
on ground water at a depth of 15 feet beneath the surface.
Based on this information, we believe ground water beneath your site has been
impacted by discharges of hydrocarbons from the leaking underground tank.
Therefore, pursuant to California Water Code, Section 13267, we request that you
conduct further investigations to determine the extent of hydrocarbon
contamination of soil and ground water resulting from discharges at your site.
Please submit a work plan for completing a Problem Assessment Report as described
in the Tri-Regional Recommendations and Appendix A guidance documents (copies
enclosed) . Also, please provide the analytical results from the previous
investigation and any information you may have on past owners/operators of this
site. The work plan and requested information should be submitted no later than
2 March 1990.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-4731 .
THOMAS D.
