13 July 2012
AGE-NC Project No.96-0236
• Comparison of baseline versus post-ISCO analytical results demonstrated a 92%
decrease in TPH-g concentrations at well DPE-1; while BTEX concentrations
decreased 80% (toluene) to 94% (ethylbenzene). Of most significance was the
finding that dissolved benzene concentrations decreased nearly 95%in comparison
to pre-injection concentrations. Additionally, TAME and 1,2-DCA decreased 63%
and 85%. All of the above decreases were sustained through the final (41" ) post_
ISCO monitoring event, or 26 days following the final ISCO injection.
• Comparison of baseline versus post-ISCO analytical results demonstrated a n 88%
decrease in TPH-g concentrations at well DPE-2; while BTEX concentrations
decreased 92%(total xylenes)to 99%(benzene)as a result of the application within
the well. TAME and 1,2-DCA decreased 100% (i.e. non detect) as a result of the
ISCO injections. All of the above decreases were sustained through the final (4`")
post-ISCO monitoring event, or 26 days following the final ISCO injection.
• Based on the ISCO pilot study field observations and monitoring data, the
application of the modified fenton reagent(diluted hydrogen peroxide solution with
acid) in injection wells at the site was highly effective in decreasing dissolved
hydrocarbon concentrations. Furthermore, based on increasing hydrocarbon levels
in observation wells MW-1A and MW-2, it appears the adsorbed mass in soil
surrounding the injection wells were also effected by the ISCO media application.
6.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the above conclusions,AGE recommends preparation of a corrective action plan
(CAP).The corrective action plan will detail all site investigation performed to date and will
include the results of all pilot remedial studies. Based on the successful nature of the ISCO
pilot injections, a final remedial action plan (FRP) will be included within the CAP,
proposing ISCO as the best-available technologyfor remediation of hydrocarbon impacted
soil and ground water at the site. The FRP will detail additional ISCO injection well
locations, well constructions and will detail procedures for full-scale implementation at the
site.
Adv¢nced GcoEnvironmental,Inc.
