1� <br /> October 24, 1997 <br /> Alex Perez <br /> Shell Oil Products Company <br /> P O Box 4023 <br /> Concord, California 94524 <br /> RE: Domestic Well Sampling - 2468 Country Club Blvd. <br /> Shell Service Station <br /> 2575 Country CIub Boulevard <br /> Stockton, California <br /> WIC 204-7524-3505 <br /> Dear Mr Perez <br /> This letter documents the results of ground water sampling activities performed on behalf <br /> of Shell Oil Products Company (Shell) at 2468 Country Club Boulevard, Stockton, <br /> California (Plate 1) A domestic water well exists on this property which is located in the <br /> vicinity of the above referenced Shell Service Station Collection of ground water samples <br /> from domestic wells in the vicinity of the Shell Service Station was requested by San <br /> Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) to determine if nearby domestic wells <br /> have been impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> Procedures <br /> Ground water samples were collected from the well on July 16, 1997, August 5, 1997, and <br /> August 29, 1997 Ground water sampling was performed by Blaine Tech Services <br /> (Blaine) of San Jose, California The sampling procedures consisted of purging the well <br /> by running the well's pump for approximately 12 minutes, then collecting two water <br /> samples <br /> Sample 1 was collected by lowering a pin bailer through the wellhead seal into the well and <br /> collecting a ground water sample directly from the well Sample 2 was collected from the <br /> spigot located closest to the wellhead The spigot was opened and flushed for two minutes <br /> prior to collection of the water sample These procedures were followed for each sampling <br /> event <br /> The water samples were collected in an appropriate container, and transferred to Sequoia <br /> Analytical of Redwood City, California, a state-certified laboratory, for analysis The <br /> ground water samples from the July 16, 1997 event were analyzed for Total Purgeable <br /> Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline according to EPA Method 8015 (modified), and <br /> benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), and methyl-tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) <br /> according to EPA Method 8020 The presence of MTBE was confirmed by an EPA <br /> Method 8260 analysis During the August 5, 1997 sampling event additional analysis for <br /> oxygenate compounds was performed, which included analysis for methanol, ethanol, <br /> tertiary butanol, di-isopropyl ether, ethyl tertiary butyl ether, and tertiary amyl methyl ether <br /> Analysis for methanol was performed by EPA Method 8015 (modified) and the other <br /> Cnorao, Inc 270 Perkins Street Sonoma California Tel 707/935 4850 <br /> P 0 Box 259 95476 0259 Fax 707/935 6549 <br />
