The EHD has concluded that the
groundwater data is not recent enough to complete the closure evaluation. At the request
of the EHD in a phone conversation with your consultant, another monitoring/vapor well
sampling event has been scheduled for April 5, 2011. Please collect groundwater
samples from VEW-3, MW-1, MW-4, MW-8, MWA 1, MWA 5, MWA 6, MWA 7 and MW-20
at this event and analyze each for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg),
tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), and methyl tertiary butyl
ether(MtBE) by EPA Method 8260B.
This site's NFAR was discussed with a staff person of the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) and the only concern noted was the rising MtBE
groundwater concentrations in monitoring well MW-15. This well is scheduled to be
sampled at the April 5, 2011 event and the EHD requires you to include a technical
evaluation and a justification that the site still qualifies for no further action if the MtBE
groundwater concentrations at this event are significantly greater than the June 2010
event.
