August 24, 2000
i
Barton Investment Company Corporation
c/o Southland Corporation
P.O. Box 711
Dallas, TX 75204
RE: 7-Eleven Store#14117
2725 Country Club Boulevard
Stockton, California 95204
Dear Sir or Madam:
As an owner and operator of the former petroleum underground storage tanks, 7-Eleven, Inc.,formerly
The Southland Corporation (7-Eleven) is required, pursuant to state law, to give notice of any confirmed
release from an underground storage tank or system to certain members of the public. As the owner of
the above-referenced property, recently revised state law entitles you to notification of the release which
has been discovered on the property and of any planned corrective action. 7-Eleven is sending you this
notice letter in compliance with state law.
Please be advised that 7-Eleven intends to fully comply with state law in the remediation of the
aforementioned release, and to take all steps necessary to obtain final closure or a "no further action"
letter from the State. Such a letter signifies that no further remediation of the property is necessary.
While you are, as 7-Eleven's landlord, entitled to notice of the release, you should not have to expend any
e remediation process. 7-Eleven will coordinate all remediation activities with the San
time or money on the
Joaquin County Public Health Services to the extent required by law.
Again, 7-Eleven is sending you this letter merely to comply with state law, rather than to unduly alarm you
about the extent of the release or the nature of the remediation activity that may be necessary on the
property. 7-Eleven values its relations with all of its landlords. If you have any questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate to call this office at (503)977-7713 or our environmental consultant for this
property, IT Corporation, to discuss this letter further. Shelby Lathrop is IT Corporation's Project Manager
for 77.Eleven and she may be reached at(925)288-2190.
i
So,
nc.
inno
ental Manager
i cc: Ed Herman, Esq. 7-Eleven, Inc., Dallas, Texas
Mr. Harlin Knoll, San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS)
1
OW NERW-1.LTR
Environmental Services Department/ 10220 S.
