1•
WORK PLAN
' SOIL INVESTIGATION
Libbey Owens Ford Co.
' 500 East Louise Avenue
Lathrop, California
' San Joaquin County
' Prepared by
CONDOR EARTH TECHNOLOGIES, INC.
' June 20, 1996
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
This soil investigation work plan was prepared by Condor Earth Technologies, Inc. (Condor)
' at the request of the Libbey Owens Ford Co. (LOF). The purpose of the proposed work is to
investigate suspected leaking underground product piping associated with an above ground diesel tank
located at the LOF site (Figures 1 and 2). The product piping is suspected to have leaked due to a
recent inventory loss. The proposed work includes the excavation of a portion of the underground
' piping at jointed sections where the leak is most likely to have occurred. It is anticipated that 50 to
100 cubic yards of soil will be excavated during the fieldwork. The excavation equipment and
' operator will be provided by Erickson Inc., of Richmond, California. A Condor geologist will be
present during the fieldwork to observe the investigation and collect soil samples.
' All work will be conducted in accordance with the San Joaquin County Public Health
' Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD), and the California Regional Water Quality
Control Board (CRWQCB)requirements. Included in this work plan is a description of the proposed
tfieldwork, laboratory analyses, and reporting. In addition, a project health and safety plan is attached.
' 2.0 FIELDWORK
2.1 Site Preparation
' Underground utilities located within the proposed excavation area will be identified by LOF
• prior to the fieldwork. Ron Rowe of the PHS/EHD will be notified of the fieldwork schedule at least
' 48 hours in advance.
' t, CONDOR
