10 November 2014 • •
AGE Project No. 14-3154
Page 2 of 5
2.0. SCOPE OF WORK
A review of records for subject property address 500 East Louise Avenue, Lathrop at
the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department and other records revealed
the presence of several areas of concern from historically significant releases of
petroleum at above ground storage tanks (ASTs) and general industrial uses of the
subject property. The assessment activities will consist of the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Advancement of soil borings for collection of soil/water samples;
• Sample analysis;
• Soil boring abandonment; and
• Report preparation.
Each of these tasks is discussed below in detail.
2.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK PREPARATIONS
Applicable soil boring permits will be obtained from SJCEHD. An update to the health
and safety plan presently on-file will be prepared in accordance with Occupational
Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation
will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service
Alert. The SJCEHD will be contacted at least 48 hours prior to conducting any field
work.
2.2. SOIL PROBE BORING AND SAMPLING
AGE proposes to advance up to 35 soil probe borings utilizing a direct push drilling rig
to evaluate the presence and define the type or extent of petroleum hydrocarbon- or
metals-impacted soil and groundwater between 5 feet and approximately 30 feet bsg.
The anticipated depth to groundwater from soil probe borings is approximately twenty
feet bsg. Proposed soil boring locations are depicted in Figure 2. A description of
proposed soil boring locations is provided below:
• Soil borings will be advanced at the southern portion of the property, with
recognized historical glass waste processing and waste disposal.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc.
