During this assessment, it was discovered;that two underground storage
tanks were located on this property that Arctic:Ice did not know about. It was recommended
L
that these tankg be removed under County supervision and permit.
y
On October 15; 1998, Geological Technics inc: and Del-Tech Geotechnical Support Services
performed tank closure, removal and soil sample collection. work. Soil samples were
L collected under the two underground storage tanks as directed by Letitia Briggs, RENS, the
County inspector. The tests results show the following:
1. FUEL TANK — Located near the west entrance of the Quonset but building, TEPH-Diesel
was found fat a depth of 10 feet bgs under the north end of the fuel tank at a concentration
of 3300 mg/kg. TPH-G, BTEX, and the Oxygenated fuel compounds were not detected
! and lead was within expected concentrations for native soils of this region.
L112.; WASTE OIL TANK — No contamination was found under the small'waste oil tank located
41
south Quoriset but and east of the fence/gate area.
On December.;1, 1998, Geological Technics Inc.'and V&W.Drilling installed three boreholes
to'a depth of 41 feet. Soil samples were collected and tested for TEPH-diesel at Sherwood
labs. The enclosed report summarizes the work performed and the test results.
2.0 SOIL INVESTIGATION
To investigate the vertical and lateral extent;of soil impacted with diesel range petroleum
hydrocarbons discovered during closure of the diesel tank, Geological Technics Inc. drilled
three boreholes to a depth of 41.5 feet below ground surface. These boreholes were located
near the former diesel tank removed on October 15, 1998, on the northwest side of the
L property. Refer to Figure.2: Site Map for well locations.
