Workplan for Underground Storage Tank Upgrade 3
Southland Store No 20632,4627 DaV1nci Drive Stockton,California August 10, 1998
observation of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division
(SJCEHD) Samples will be analyzed for BTEX and TPH-G by EPA methods 801518020, the
oxygenates TBA, MTBE, DIPS, ETRE, TAME by EPA method 8260, and total lead by EPA Method
6010
Following removal of the existing USTs at the site, construction activity will begin to install the new USTs
and dispenser island at the site The existing tank pit will extend slightly to the west to accomodate the
two new tanks The dispensers will be placed slightly to the southwest of the existing fuel dispensers
An additional approximately 150 cubic yards of soil will be generated during the excavation of the new
tank pit The soil will be stockpiled on site and sampled for proper characterization The stockpiled sod
will either be transported from the site by a licensed waste hauler to an appropriate disposal facility or
used as backfill material
Future Activities at the Site
A well search will be conducted to locate all water supply wells within a 2,000-foot radius of the site
. Information will be reviewed at the Department of Water Resources In Sacramento, California and the
local municipal water supply company A door-to-door well search maybe conducted if deemed
necessary One well will be installed near the existing tank pit to replace well MW-4
The replacement of the existing tanks and associated fuel dispensers will effectively remove the source
of hydrocarbons at the site It is proposed that the current monitoring well system be used to monitor
dissolved hydrocarbons beneath the site If, after two quarters of monitoring and sampling following
removal of the existing USTs, hydrocarbon and oxygenate concentrations decrease in the off-site and
on-site monitoring wells and if no water supply wells are found to be in hydraulic communication with
the existing monitoring wells, site closure will be proposed If hydrocarbon and MTBE concentrations
do not decrease, further plume delineation and active remediation may be required
20632EXE LTR
FLUOR DANIEL GTI
C•1
